<b>Voluntary Health Association of Delhi (VHAD)</b><br><br>
VHAD implemented a project on survey and evaluation of the Adolescent Girls Scheme funded by Deptt. of Women and Child Development, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India. It was found from the survey that adolescent girls were well aware on all Health Issues. The Adolescent Girls Scheme was successful through its service by the functionaries to impart a holistic knowledge of being a total woman. The girl child through the intervention of the scheme are better equipped to face her future.<br><br>During the year, VHAD coordinated the refugee project with support from UNHCR in various place of Delhi and Faridabad. Under the project, refugees were given a lot of support of finance, ensuring accessibility of health services at government hospitals, charitable organizations, health awareness, education etc. Health talks on HIV/AIDS were organized for refugee students as well as adolescent and 256 refugees’ children attended these programmes. In addition, VHAD arranged 18 units of blood for needy refugees and distributed among them lot of pamphlets and posters on HIV/AIDS.<br><br>VHAD was appointed as one of the NGOs by the MCD to ensure effective implementation of DOTS under revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme. The objective of this programme is to improve general health awareness in addition to T.B. prevention and treatment. The first DOTS Centre started functioning in the Health Centre at Vikaspuri and at present VHAD is coordinating 5 DOTS Centres in Delhi. Apart from giving regular treatment to the T.B. Patients, awareness programmes were also conducted by the staff which enhanced local community awareness regarding personal hygiene, child care and family planning.<br><br>Other Programmes of VHAD included celebration of World Health Day on 7th April, World Environment Day on 9th June, debate/competition on role of youth in population stabilization on the occasion of World Population Day, observed International Literacy Day and World AIDS Day. In addition, VHAD along with its member organization conducted various seminars on consumer protection and education, program on Solid Waste Management, Cultural Programme related to awareness on AIDS, say no to Tobacco, Nukkad Natak, Rally, etc.
