Orientation Training for Training of the Trainer on Village Health Sanitation and Nutrition Committee:
VHAI-RRC was invited by the Mission Director, J&K state government for the orientation training for TOTs of VHSNCs in Srinagar on 12 February 2012 and in Jammu on 24 February 2012. During both the training programmes, the Block Medical Officers, selected Mother NGOs and other NGOs were also present.

BLS Data Entry Package Training:
VHAI-RRC through rigorous efforts and communication with MoHFW regarding inclusion of missing districts in the updated BLS Data Entry Package, could update the package for the state of J&K. The revised CDs have now been sent to the new MNGOs of Kashmir which will be followed by the training of MNGOs in the Project Proposal Development |
A Brain Storming Workshop on Strengthening the Role of MNGOs in 12th Five Year Plan: under NRHM and Hearing the voices of ASHAs:
A Brainstorming Workshop focusing on “Strengthening Role of MNGOs in 12th Five Year Plan under NRHM and Hearing the Voices of ASHAs” was organized by RRC with the support from MOHFW Govt. of India and J&K State Rural Health Mission under the chair of Joint Director, Planning, State Health Society, J&K. |

There was an active participation from various key officials including State NGO Coordinator, State Training Facilitator, Divisional Nodal Officer, SHS and other staff members of SHS, five Block Medical Officers representing five districts of Jammu i.e., Reasi, Udhampur, Jammu, Samba and Kathua and 25 ASHAs (5 ASHAs from each). From the NGO sector, there were 15 selected Mother NGOs and other local credible NGOs. This meeting was successful in bringing together credible NGOs, 25 ASHAs and State Government key officials for exploring the areas in which efficient MNGOs can support & facilitate Government Health Projects. Workshop also focused on assessing the challenges faced by the ASHAs and how best NGO support can improve their functioning. |

Abhilasha, VHAI-RRC Bilingual Newsletter
The latest issue of the bilingual newsletter “Abhilasha” has been published on ‘An easy guide for Village Health Sanitation and Nutrition Committee’. It details upon the roles and responsibilities of the VHSNCs and provides elaborate information on various Govt. health programmes and schemes available at the village level.

NRHM Special Bulletin on Newborn Health
As a special assignment by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare under the guidance of the Joint Secretary (P), Director (NGO division), and Deputy Commissioner in the Child Health and Maternal Health, RRC-VHAI documented and conceptualized a special bulletin on “Newborn Health”. |

| Advocacy |
Meeting with the Mission Director, J&K was conducted to take forward the concerns of Mother NGOs in the state and as well as involvement of credible NGOs in more programmes of the state.
Regular Meetings with the Joint Secretary (P) and Director, NGO Division, NRHM, GoI in the Central Government are also organized to share the activities of the RRC and understanding its future role and responsibilities. |
