| Developing Quality IEC Materials |
VHAI has been producing healthcare publications for the last three decades. We produce timely, user-friendly and low cost comprehensive health packages, which include books, research publications, manuals and booklets, audio-visual material, posters and flip charts. We are among the largest publishing houses in Asia with over 1000 titles on health and development issues. Our books and periodicals are read and used by policy makers, researchers, health workers, trainers, counselors and general readers. The experience gathered over the last few years from VHAI's programmes in rural and urban areas has helped us become pioneers and the largest producer of health-related books and audiovisuals in India.
Our publications concentrate on subjects where materials are few or non-existent specially addressing the needs of general public, policy makers, health workers, trainers, school teachers and children. A large numbers of our publications are available in regional languages in India through our state association offices located in the state capitals of the country.

VHAI's materials go through a well-defined process of development. The need to develop the materials may come from the policy-level, current health scenario (global as well as local) or the field i.e., our various international, national and local government networks as well as trainers, facilitators and other agencies. The organization has a strong resource base of writers, translators and technical consultants who comprise some of the leading names in the medical world. They are assisted by our in-house communications, design and production staff.
VHAI books are also widely translated and adapted in regional Indian languages by the State Voluntary Health Associations (SVHAs) who then use and disseminate them further. This provides a solid information base to all its publications and resource materials. Being one of the largest health and development networks in the world, the outreach of VHAI materials spreads across the entire country, especially the remote corners which are much in need of information on health and development issues. VHAI materials are also procured in bulk by the Government of India and then further disseminated through their own networks. |
