Sea changes seen in CHC Deomali after VHAI take over

Itanagar, Sept 26: Voluntary Health Association of India (VHAI) has been delivering quality healthcare in Community Health Centre (CHC), Deomali, Tirap District since August 2009 under the PPP project of NRHM. There are significant improvements in different areas of healthcare delivery in CHC. In the month of August 1,352 patients were treated in outdoor and till 26th September 1,673 patients were registered in CHC OPD. It’s noteworthy that when the CHC was managed by the State Government the OPD registration for the months of April, May and July 2009 were 599, 652 and 593 respectively. Likewise, there are improvement in services and increase in patient-load in other units of the hospital like Indoor, Emergency and Labour-room.

The epidemiological estimate finds that at least 2,200 patients would now be treated at Deomali CHC every month, which means 365% increase in the patient load after its being managed by VHAI. It’s noteworthy that VHAI has deployed twelve Doctors in CHC. Deomali now attracts patients from different areas of Tirap district, as people from far places rush to Deomali for treatment as they like the improved facilities provided free of cost and the availability of experienced Doctors and dedicated staff round the clock.

Record patients at Deomlai CHC

ITANAGAR, Nov 3: 2,678 patients were treated in VHAI-managed Deomali CHC of Tirap District in the month of October alone.

Deomali CHC is managed by VHAI since August, 2009 and there is nearly five times increase in patient-load since its takeover. Although NGOs staff work with relatively less salary and facilities than their Government counterparts do, however, service-delivery as well as patient-satisfaction increase significantly in NGO-managed hospitals.
