As national boundaries are fast diminishing due to globalization, advocacy efforts in the health and development areas need to be taken up both at national and international forums. VHAI has been making significant contribution in policy matters at both domestic as well as global levels, besides advocating grassroot level concerns.
- Collaboration with WHO - VHAI’s relationship with WHO has continued to grow. VHAI was a member of the Drafting Committee of the Bangkok Charter for Health Promotion. The Chief Executive of VHAI chaired the opening session of the conference. This charter was endorsed by all member countries of WHO at the 6th Global Conference on Health Promotion held in Bangkok in 2005.
In the 7th Global Conference on Health Promotion to be held in 2009 in Nairobi, Kenya, VHAI is a member of the Conference Programme Committee and Conference Organising Committee.

- IUHPE, Paris - VHAI is a member of the Board of Trustees of International Union for Health Promotion and Education (IUHPE).
VHAI is also a member of the Executive Committee of the Global Scientific Committee for the 20th IUHPE World Conference on Health Promotion and Global Working Group on the Social Determinants of Health, IUHPE.

- 39th Union World Conference on Lung Health - Senior officials of the VHAI Tobacco Control Project participated as speakers in the 39th Union World Conference on Lung Health, held in Paris.
- MICRODIS Project - MICRODIS (Integrated Health Social and Economic Impacts of Extreme Events: Evidence, Methods and Tools) is an integrated project, funded under the European Union’s Sixth Framework Programme. It has 16 partners including VHAI from 11 countries and is coordinated by the Universite Catholique de Louvain, Belgium. The outputs of the Project will include an evidence-base on impacts, field methodologies and tools for data compilation, impact models, and integrated vulnerability assessments.
As an active member of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Mr Alok Mukhopadhyay, Chief Executive, VHAI has been taking forward the project concerns at the national level.
