| Process of Implementation |
The project is implemented by a set of well defined state level & District and village level activities. The state level activities are under the domain of VHAI and sub district activities are carried out by selected State VHAs and local NGOs.
The implementation process involves the village level workers under the supervision of cluster coordinators (1 for 5-6 villages), who themselves work under the guidance of field supervisors (1 per 5-6 cluster coordinators). At the district level a team of District coordinator and data entry operator (1 team per 2-3 districts) provide hand holding support to field team. A regional team based at Guwahati looks after the overall implementation of the project under the guidance from Strategic Advisor & Training Advisor based in Delhi.
Activities at National Level
The project involves activities at the national, regional and district and village levels by specially recruited teams trained by the group of experts at VHAI. Locally suitable and subject specific BCC material will be developed through coordination and consultation with stakeholders at different levels.
Community participation along with the involvement of PRIs and other opinion leaders will be a regular feature of the project.
The activities will focus on increasing the use of long-lasting insecticidal nets (LLINs), malaria rapid diagnostic test (RDT), artemisinin-based combination therapies (ACTs) and indoor residual spraying (IRS) of insecticide in order to control and, eliminate malaria.
Sentinel surveillance will be established for severe malaria cases and deaths to complement the existing disease surveillance. |
