| National Consultation on Social Determinants of Health at Vigyan Bhavan 27th February, 2012 |

The Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India organized a National Consultation on 27th February, 2012 at Vigyan Bhavan. It was attended by several Cabinet Ministers, Secretaries of Social Development Ministries and many Principal Secretaries of Health from the States.
VHAI was an active partner of the Government in this effort, contributing by putting together the book on addressing the social determinants of Health. The book is put together to consolidate the ideas and the discussions that have formed the building blocks of the First National Consultation on Social Determinants of Health.
Mr. Alok Mukhopadhyay, Chief Executive, VHAI was a Key Speaker at the National Consultation.
VHAI’s KHOJ Initiative was particularly appreciated by all the participants.
There was also a screening of the Film – Promises to Keep, which was produced by VHAI for the WHO-SEARO on Social Determinants of Health
The consultation came at a very opportune time as we move into the 12th Five Year Plan with a vision of expanding the National Rural Health Mission for providing Universal Health Coverage. The Book will provide useful insights into the concept of social determinants of health in India socio – political context and will motivate united efforts for addressing them for a healthier India.
